About ilass-EUROPE

Preface from the President of Ilass International

ILASS Europe, Asia, Americas, Japan and Korea hold conferences every year. The Conference in Japan is conducted in Japanese and the Korean conference is conducted in Korean. The European, Asian and Americas conferences are all conducted in English.

All the participants at these conferences constitute ILASS International, which is governed by an International Council. The President of the International Council is appointed by the Council for a period of three years. The President is nominated by each region (Asia, Europe and Americas), in rotation. Each region appoints delegates to the International Council according to the constitution of the Council. The International Council meets every three years at the International ICLASS Conference, which is held in rotation among Asia, Europe and the Americas. The International Council is responsible for:

  • selecting the location of each International ICLASS conference
  • the journal ``Atomization and Spays''
  • promoting international relations among the three regions.

The President of the International Council attends and participates in Asian, European and American regional conferences and represents ILASS International on each ICLASS program and Organizing Committee. He promotes and encourages participation and presentation of papers from ``sister'' regions of ILASS at regional ILASS conferences. Increasing numbers of ILASS members have been attending ILASS conferences in Europe and the Americas. Fewer members from Europe and America attend Asia conferences. Members from sister regions are especially welcomed at the banquets of ILASS conferences.

I was first elected International President for three years in 1991, and again in 2000. I have been a diligent member of ILASS since its formation and have actively participated in the growth and internationalization of ILASS.

We are now well established internationally as THE organization, institute and society with the world's greatest expertise, knowledge and activity in the fields of atomization, sprays, computation, theory, analysis, characterization and instrumentation for the very wide range of scientific and industrial applications of spray technology.

I take this opportunity to urge every member and prospective member of ILASS to participate and present papers at our regional and international conferences, submit papers to, and study our journal ``Atomization and Sprays'', and to make every effort to enhance the status and quality of our research and activities.
